ABN Verification for Tradies Explained
You've probably seen the badge before: "ABN Verified" sitting next to a business name. It looks reassuring, but most people have never checked what it actually means.
What "ABN Verified" means
It means the business's ABN has been checked against the Australian Business Register and confirmed as active, matching the business name provided. What it doesn't tell you
ABN verification is a floor, not a ceiling. It confirms a business is legitimate. It doesn't tell you how long they've been trading, or how good they are to work with. That's why verification and reputation are two separate layers. Verification answers "is this a real business?" A rating answers "would other builders and contractors recommend them?" You need both.
